Death

Ecclesiastes 3:2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

Wether you believe in God or not everyone for the most part expects that your body will give in due to old age at some point. While responding to car wrecks with the Rescue Squad it’s not uncommon to find a fatality. I often wonder if they were right with God. I pray for them and their families. I think of the widow and the children. Was he the sole provider, how will his family make it now? Im sure those of you in the health care field have similar thoughts. It never fails, every time I reflect on my life I pray to the Lord to help me live each day as my last. This morning I wasn’t sure what I was going to write about, I did my Sabbath school lesson then I prayed Lord give me a word. I knew some how I wanted to talk about Haiti but also make it applicable to us here. Then the Bucket List came on T.V. and I said there it is. For those of you who havent seen the movie I wont ruin it for you. The two main characters are terminally ill and they made a list of goals of what they wanted to do before they died. I thought that was really powerful. So I made a list and I challenge you all to make one too. 10 things at least that you would like to accomplish before you die. Here are mine in no particular order.

1. Live a life that reflects Christ.
2. Marry the girl of my dreams. (Ayanda).
3. Become a Firefighter.
4. Become a Father and have a loving relationship with my children.
5. Learn how to make Roti.
6. Leave this World better then I found it.
7. See people as God does from the inside out.
8. Put out my clothing line.
9. Become a Mentor
10. Become a Motivational Speaker.
11. Visit all of the Continents.

We don’t know when our time is up, we have to make the most of every minute we are blessed with. I encourage all of you to make a list. Cross them out as you go along and after you finish make a new one. Share your list with us on the group page on face book Im looking forward to see what you guys come up with. I pray that we all can live each day as are last. – Word Up

Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it…” ( James 4:11)

When speaking about ministries, and talents, and spiritual gifts, it is equally as important that we don’t exhibit behaviors that make our ministries null. And one of the greatest nullifiers is an evil tongue. . For the speaker, it gives indirect flattery to the ego, a place where sin grows best. It allows us to sit on top and rain fire to the unworthy below. ” What was she wearing?” can be translated to ” She should know better than to wear that because I wouldn’t.” …..
We are all sinners, and for us, for any reason, to feel that we are great ‘discerners’ of beauty, style, fashion, intellect,or ANYTHING is false, and every word sinks us deeper in pride. Or just as bad, helps hide our own insecurities so deep that confessing them and bringing them before the Father ‘feels’ pointless.
But you should always speak the truth right?
If its truth from the Word of God, then of course! But as far as your own opinion…
what is the purpose? Are your words really ‘helping’ someone out, or just an excuse to bring attention to yourself and show off your know-how? How do you know the difference?
1.) Practice praying before you talk. About anything.Just a quick one. It its hard, then its because of impulsiveness, which is part of the formula for stupidity. Or because sins lies there in your heart, ready to be let loose. God and sin don’t get along…
2.) If the person you speaking about were to give their opinion about you, would you care? If not, more then likely the person you speaking about wouldn’t either…just save your input until you and the person have a closer relationship to even begin receiving things from each other.
3.) If you are truly and advocate of Christ, always,…would He approve this message you are about to deliver?

Faith

I Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the long suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

This text on the surface seems only to be another flood story. When we look deeper in the text we see a mystery. The end of the verse says that the 8 were saved by water? We must ask the question then, wasnt the flood sent to destroy, wasn’t water sent to end life not save life?

Well all who have ever been swimming know that you can either do one of two things. Either you can float/swim or you can drown. Well since these 8 were faithful God decided to allow them to Float instead of sinking. So in actuality while the water was sent to judge the wicked, the faithful were saved by the water!

Of course the water didnt really save them, it was God. but their faith put them in position to be saved. I want to be in position to be saved, how about you? lets have the Faith of Christ so when Christ cracks the sky as the faithful floated in the time of Noah, the Faithful shall rise to heaven in the end.

Volunteer

Monday has come again and Im sure like me some of you didn’t really want to get up . Today we will talk shortly about volunteering. Many of us have been in a position in life that we needed a little bit of help. Maybe you received that help from a passerby, friend,parent or good Samaritan. You know, someone not on the clock getting paid helping you because it was the right thing to do.Im sure there might be a few of us that were in an time of a real crisis and we were helped by these people or emergency responders. I say this because in this time of financial hardship people tend to say well I cant afford to help anyone I need help. Well here is a suggestion you can volunteer your time and skills thats just as good as money and at times that’s whats needed not money! In the Book of Matthew chapter 25:35-40 Jesus says

³⁵For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, ³⁶I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

³⁷“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? ³⁸When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? ³⁹When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

⁴⁰“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’

Jesus was asking us to volunteer to help our brothers and sisters and in turn helping him. The feeling you get when you help someone in a tight spot is AWESOME. There are many agencies that would love your help such as Red Cross, Salvation Army, Boys and Girls club and various other agencies. So today why not look around and see who you can help. Look for an agency that can use someone with your gifts. Make someones day a little bit brighter,in turn yours will be too I promise.- Word Up

PERSEVERE

PERSEVERE

Merriam Webster defines the word persevere as to persist in a state, enterprise,

or undertaking in spite of counter influences,opposition, or discouragement.When

I hear this word used usually it refers to an extreme struggle such as a long battle,

marathon running or fighting to live with a terminal Illness.Rarely is this word

used as a CALL TO ARMS .

Persevere When life gets rough .You have prayed already, you have fasted and you feel as though everybody but you is getting by.

Maybe its finding a career path, selecting a major, passing Calculus, finding a mate or Fighting Cancer.

Psalms 27:14 says “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD”

I know I get to the point when Im like how much longer Lord I can’t keep going Im losing faith daily people are talking about me

making a mockery of me,Is there no helpfor me? What have I done have you left me alone? Is there no hope?

The Bible says in James 1 (Contemporary English Version)

1: From James, a servant of God and of our Lord Jesus Christ.Greetings to the twelve tribes scattered all over the world.Faith and Wisdom.

2 My friends, be glad, even if you have a lot of trouble.3 You know that you learn to endure by having your faith tested.

4 But you must learn to endure everything,so that you will be completely mature and not lacking in anything.

5 If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won’t correct you for asking. 6 But

when you ask for something,you must have faith and not doubt.

This translation uses the word Endure we can replace it with Persevere. So Hang in there He hears you do your part our blessing

is not only being delivered but it’s also the trial. Be encouraged with God’s help we can do it Perservere!- Word Up

Love

When we think of Love we may think of Just the romantic male/female relationship. This is only a small portion of Love. We all know that God is love. That being said if we believed it the world would be a Better place. Out of Love we were created, Love then took the form of man and died for us all. Soon Love will return to carry us home . Love told us in Mark chapter 12:
thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
All we are asked to do is Love. It is no surprise that the enemy breeds hate, war, racism, jealousy,envy and discord. It is my Hope to Live a Life of Love. Love for all. The task is to Fill my heart with only Love there will be no room for anything else. I challenge you all to take up this Challenge. Love is all that matters.Let us Fight with all we have in us to Love as God Loves us.- Word Up
